In 2009, Perpetuity were commissioned by Derby Community Safety Partnership (DCSP) to undertake an alcohol needs assessment, the first of its kind in Derby City. The focus of the needs assessment was to make sense of existing data sets and to understand more about the needs of alcohol users in Derby City with a view to implementing a new model of alcohol treatment services in April 2010. Local stakeholders, including service managers, commissioners and practitioners were invited to take part in interviews as well as service users (including parents and carers). The findings from the needs assessment were discussed at an expert panel event hosted by the CSP and Perpetuity and the event was used to validate the suggested strategic recommendations and priorities.
