Anti-Corruption Academy, Vienna

At the beginning of July, Martin gave a presentation at the anti-corruption academy in Vienna. He spoke about the ways in which dishonesty is manifested in organisations and how insights from work with offenders can inform prevention strategies. He also chaired a discussion on corruption in sport which focused on a range of issues, including the enormous influence of the illegal betting underworld; the lack of commitment to gambling regulation; the ineffectiveness of some police forces on tackling corruption (apparently in some countries investigative journalists are better allies than the police); the involvement of organised crime and the penetration of corruption into a range of sports including tennis. This is an area in desperate need of more research.
