This month the Home Office has published a new report discussing ‘opportunity’ as a driver of crime. It considers the value of tackling crime by removing opportunity – particularly the successes evident from using security measures to tackle acquisitive crime.

The Home Office has also released a report evaluating government and law enforcement interventions aimed at reducing metal theft. The paper sought to assess whether a decline in metal theft was attributable to interventions introduced to address metal theft, or due to metal prices falling.
