The Aon Centre gains Secured Environments award
Aon plc, a leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions, is the latest organisation to be recognised by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives for its security, gaining the prestigious Secured Environments award for The Aon Centre, their global headquarters, housed in the iconic Leadenhall Building in London.
The award, which recognises that Aon is following six key principles to maximise the safety of colleagues and visitors, was achieved after a thorough audit of the company’s approach to security management at their headquarters, which included independent consultation with management, security officers and other colleagues.
Aon is one of only two landmark buildings in the City of London to hold the Secured Environments award.
The six key principles of the Secured Environment accreditation are a commitment by an organisation and its leadership to create a secure environment; an understanding of the security risks that it faces; the development of an effective response to reduce the risks to the organisation; a management plan to achieve its aims and objectives; the effective implementation of the security and crime prevention measures; and the monitoring and evaluation of the security and crime prevention measures.
Kevin Allchorne, Regional Head of Global Protection Services, UK, EMEA & APAC at Aon stated: “Aon is delighted to have achieved the Secured Environments accreditation, for our global HQ in the City of London. It not only demonstrates the focus and commitment on security from the very senior management level within our firm, it also reflects the continual time, effort and energy that my security management team dedicate to ensure we maintain appropriate levels of security to protect our people, property and information.”
Professor Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Research, said: “As the headquarters of a professional services company based in a landmark building in the City of London, Aon were keen to demonstrate that the way they manage security and respond to any threats they may face is effective.”
Guy Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer at Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, said: “Secured Environments is suitable for many types of organisations, regardless of their size, function and location. It offers accreditation for those that can evidence their commitment to good security. Every organisation can benefit from working to a framework that enables them to think through the security challenges they face and how best to manage them.”
