New Research Launched – Security Managers in HM Prisons: Perspectives on Security Management

Perpetuity Research has been commissioned by The Security, Order and Counter Terrorism Directorate in Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service to undertake research into security managers working in prisons. Despite there being a range of studies on security managers in general (for example assessing their perspectives on their role and relationships to the wider organisations in which they work), to date, this has not included those working in custodial settings. This study aims to address this gap and help to inform a modern approach to security management in prisons that is both more strategic, responsive and flexible and draws upon the way the modern security sector has developed in recent years. This work will assist in the development of a new strategy for security in prisons.
