First Shopping Centre receives Secured Environments Award

Marlowes Shopping Centre set the standard as the first shopping centre to be awarded with the Secured Environments accreditation. They underwent a thorough audit of their security processes and procedures which included independent consultation with management, security staff and general staff as part of the assessment procedure for the award. A key challenge for shopping centres is to maintain good customer service and create an enjoyable shopping environment – something which cannot be achieved without understanding the potential security risks and acting to mitigate them.

Marlowes, supported by its managing agent JLL, has demonstrated its dedication to meeting this challenge within their site in Hemel Hempstead – a 360,000 sq ft, 68 unit, enclosed shopping mall. In particular the shopping centre evidenced an excellent commitment to security.

The process of gaining the award included the re-evaluation of all our risks and procedures and the way in which we implemented and communicated that to our staff and visitors was a fantastic exercise for all concerned.’
