Raising Awareness of Restorative Justice Schemes
This week, the Ministry of Justice’s Restorative Justice campaign commences with the intention of increasing awareness of restorative justice schemes. Restorative Justice schemes bring together victims and offenders to benefit both parties, and the aim is to educate both victims and offenders on what is involved before they participate. For the Restorative Justice Week, the idea of empowering victims is a focal point. As well as this, the Ministry of Justice is working with the police and relevant groups to support regional events in their communities.
At Perpetuity, we are currently undertaking research to evaluate a Restorative Justice pilot in London for cases involving insurance and investment fraud. The evaluation involves consulting offenders, victims and key stakeholders involved in running and delivering the pilot.
